The Color Pigments Manufacturers Association (CPMA) wrapped up 2021 by providing its members with an in-depth 2022 outlook on economic trends, supply chain challenges and potential growth across markets from industry experts Dale Pritchett of Rodman Media and economist Dr. Thomas K. Swift at its Annual Meeting held virtually on December 14.

CPMA also recapped association achievements in 2021 and elected its slate of Officers and Governors for 2022-2023.

Dale Pritchett, Group Publisher, Rodman Media
Pritchett shared insight on top headlines and trends for the global coatings and printing inks markets. A significant trend for these sectors in 2021 was the increase in costs driven by raw materials availability and supply chain disruptions.

According to Swift, a longtime economist covering North American chemical sectors, the outlook is positive for the color pigments industry in 2022, due to anticipated growth across markets such as housing, automotive, paints and coatings, plastics, printing inks and packaging.

Members were briefed on key association activities and successes over the year. In 2021, CPMA:
• Grew its network across the color pigments value chain by welcoming four new members, including Borregaard, Cabot Corporation, CINIC and Torrecid.
• Proactively expanded advocacy efforts by engaging with federal and state regulators and working with key stakeholders on critical issues impacting the industry value chain.
• Delivered expert insight on policy and sector trends such as sustainability and supply chain issues through its webinar series.
• Developed compliance guidance for members to navigate complex and shifting chemical regulations.

As part of its Annual Meeting, CPMA members elected Officers to serve on the association Executive Committee and a new class to serve on its Board of Governors for 2022-2023. The CPMA Board is comprised of industry leaders representing the color pigments value chain:

Ronald Levi, Bruchsaler Farbenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG – CPMA President and Board Chair
