The UK’s largest independent paint manufacturer HMG Paints has launched its next-generation colorants. The new MSH decorative colorants benefit from the latest technology and are controlled to some of the highest standards in the industry, giving users outstanding color quality and batch-to-batch consistency.
The new colorants are already being used by HMG’s distributor network and the company is also supplying to other paint and coatings manufacturers who utilize the colorants in their products. With the impending arrival of Brexit, HMG has seen a significant increase in inquiries as companies look to reduce supply chain disruption and reshoring key raw material supply as part of Brexit preparedness strategies.
For the decorative and architectural markets, HMG’s MSH water-based colorants are VOC, NPE & APE free, meaning they are better for the environment and exceed the demands of current environmental legislation. Designed for high-end decorative and architectural products, the 15 colorants of the MSH range are used in HMG’s product portfolio and by customers who require a high performing and consistent color production.
The company has identified several benefits for manufacturers and end-users including drastically improved manufacturing, speed of products and enhanced color stability.
Additionally, the MSH decorative colorants offer ease of application and enhance application qualities including flow & leveling for a much-improved finish.
“We’ve utilized the latest pigments and colorant technology to produce these new decorative colorants and customers have given us fantastic feedback,” said Steven Hutton, HMG Operations director. “The color laboratory has worked exceptionally hard to develop the products and are adding colors on a daily basis.”
Via the company’s bespoke color formulation software ColourBase, customers and users already have access to over 1,300 water-based formulations for the MSH colorants across several popular color collections such as RAL, NCS and leading decorative collections.
“The color quality and consistency the new colorants produce has been game-changing for some of our customers,” said Danny Cleary, sales director. “By manufacturing the colorants right here in the UK, it means customers can benefit from fast delivery and ensure their color production does not suffer from logistic and supply chain disruption, especially with the potential of significant border disruption with colorants coming from outside the UK post-Brexit.”
The system is designed to be a direct drop-in replacement for existing market colorants and is fully compatible with automated tinting technologies meaning there is no need for users to buy expensive new equipment.
